"My work is greatly inspired by botanical and organic material and I am particularly interested in decay and the decomposition of what was once alive. The inhibition of this natural process is both bizarre and fascinating to me and my prints draw reference to the cataloging and careful preservation of various scientific specimens. By approaching subject matter that usually invokes disgust as though it were something beautiful and curious gives my viewers a chance to appreciate this singular event in a completely new context. I enjoy working with layers, texture and atmospheric qualities. Most recently I have been focusing my studies on avian specimens, often referred to as 'bird skins', and exploring their creation, storage and treatment."
